Kafal being a wild fruit can be seen in the dense forest regions of every famous hill station in Uttarakhand. The fruit isn’t cultivated by anyone yet sold by many. The weekly market is flooded with the red Kafals and even the pahadi kids sell these to tourists on road. The shelf life of this wild fruit is just two days and yet people buy it in large quantities and take it home as souvenirs of their trip. Kafal, with its large market is sold for almost Rs.100-120 per kg and is like a boon to the ones who fail to make much money for the rest of the year. (Image: istock)
