As much as believers of ancient medicinal practices vouch for this remedy, there has been no scientific evidence to support the benefits of keeping onions in socks. However, there have been studies that believe onions are rich in minerals like sulfur and have great antibacterial properties, and is good for health, when consumed in the right proportion.
In fact, as per a medicine journal, Dr. Ruth MacDonald, professor in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Iowa State University, said “Onions are much less effective than bleach or chemical antibiotics.” In fact, viruses need direct contact with a human host to spread. Thus, applying onion would not be an effective way to treat viruses and infections. However, there are some reasons why this hack may work towards purification of blood and may cleanse the body.
