Mauritius, one of the most sought-after honeymoon destinations in the world, has finally lifted a number of COVID-19 restrictions to boost tourism in the country. The South African nation had put a ban on public gatherings due to the pandemic. But now, the country has scrapped these restrictions along with removing a public mask mandate.
A heaven in the Indian Ocean, this island nation is noted for its pristine beaches, secluded islands and luxury abodes. Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth took to national radio and said, "Difficult decisions had to be taken, including total containment with its consequences on the economy. We have not been in a hurry to reopen our borders and it has been done in stages and we have noted that it is a formula that has worked. Now, it is with confidence that we can enter a new phase."
