Celebrity worship syndrome is an obsessive addictive disorder in which a person becomes overly involved with the life of a celebrity. It is an extreme feeling where one feels excessively attached to a celebrity. According to the Celebrity Attitude Scale, there are three levels of this phenomenon namely entertainment-social, intense-personal, and borderline-pathological.
Entertainment-social is the least concerning type of celebrity worship as it refers to a relatively low level of obsession.
Intense-personal is an intermediate level of obsession linked to neuroticism as well as behaviors linked to psychoticism.
Lastly, borderline-pathology is the most severe level of celebrity worship as it involves pathological attitudes and behaviors including willingness to commit crime on behalf of the celebrity or ready to spend money on products used by the celebrity and so on.
