Prosopagnosia is said to be caused by impairment, or damage of a fold in the brain called the right fusiform gyrus.
According to the NHS, there are two types of prosopagnosia namely, developmental prosopagnosia and acquired prosopagnosia.
Developmental prosopagnosia refers to prosopagnosia without experiencing any brain damage. In acquired prosopagnosia, a person develops the condition after a brain damage or injury including a stroke.
