The cervix is the lower, narrow end of the uterus and it is at the top of the vagina. Cervical cancer happens when abnormal cells grow in an uncontrolled way in the lining of the cervix, which connects the uterus and vagina. This cancer may even spread to other parts of the body such as the liver, bladder, vagina, and rectum. Women who are 35 to 44 years old are most likely to get this cancer. As per reports, more than 15% of new cases are in women over age 65.
Cervical cancer grows slowly, however, the sooner you notice the symptoms, the better chance you have of being successfully treated. A main sign of cervical cancer is pain in the lower back, pelvis or lower abdomen.
